There was a break in the canal near Luneau on the canal from Roanne to Digoin. It happened Thursday 28 May at 18:00 - consequently the 16 kilometre stretch between Bourg le Comte and Chassenard was emptied of water. Navigation was allowed from Roanne only as far as the lock at Artaix. Canal re-opened July 13th, 2009.
